Hi.

Welcome to the Active Air research blog by Bovitz, Inc. We're documenting our adventures in helping build a new, game-changing filter system. Hope you enjoy!

A Few Questions From First-Time App Users

A Few Questions From First-Time App Users

Downloading and setting up the app is super simple; no hurdles there. Below is a little gallery we put together that represents our thoughts on getting started with the app.

We do have a number of questions and thoughts as we begin to dig into the app and explore. Perhaps these could be talked about in a FAQ section? Below are a few highlights; we hope this helps!

Air Quality

We love this feature, but more info would help us feel like we can trust and rely on the data. Patrick represents our sentiment well:

I wish there was more info on air quality. What makes the air “very good?” Where did that rating scale come from, and what does it mean? What the heck is that symbol or measurement, and what does that mean? It would be cool if the filter told me how it was working as well. Is it capturing a lot of pollen? Dust? Mold? I like the overall look, but would like more info.

We’re also a bit confused as to why the indoor air quality doesn’t show up immediately. Ryan captures our thoughts in this video:

Profile Questions

The profile questions are short and sweet. We do have a few thoughts on them though:

  • I wondered if the zip code accounts for factories in the area.
  • It's important to know if one lives in a high traffic area. I have read articles saying that air quality is compromised in homes that are on a main road. Will that be included?
  • I'm assuming the indoor and outdoor air quality determine the percentage in which the filter life percent drops, and it’s not just a set countdown. True?
  • There could be more specific questions about the internal and external environment... how old is the home, what type flooring or floor covering, size of home, number of trees and/or plants nearby, is leaf burning allowed, etc.
