Hi.

Welcome to the Active Air research blog by Bovitz, Inc. We're documenting our adventures in helping build a new, game-changing filter system. Hope you enjoy!

Parting Words & A Few Big Needs

Parting Words & A Few Big Needs

Well, it’s been a lovely journey. Better than any of us could’ve imagined for sure. Active Air is really on to something that’s new and different, something that’s poised to shake up the marketplace. In a really good way. We wish all the people involved in the project nothing but the best, and it’s been a pleasure playing a small role in its development. Our parting words are five summarized, forward-looking needs from the collective, as if you would’ve expected anything different! Cheers!

1| A Radically Different Shopping Experience

  • Move away from cluttered, boring shelves to a more thoughtful, modern shopping experience
  • Offer hands-on, immersive learning interactions
  • Do something new and different, even unusual, to create buzz

2| More Education Please

  • More clarity around what Speck readings really mean and why they fluctuate so much
  • Recommendations on actions we can take to improve our indoor air quality

3| More Trending Data

  • Go beyond the past 12-24 hours for outdoor AQ (e.g., past week/month/year)
  • Show longitudinal indoor AQ trends for my home and local community
  • Consider ways to offer additional data, such as humidity levels, pollen count, room temperature, and even mold count and carbon monoxide reading

4| Better Syncing

  • Create a seamless experience for syncing indoor AQ to the Filtrete app (currently hit or miss)
  • Re-pairing upon filter replacement can be challenging
  • Only real usability challenge; the rest of the user experience is very simple and easy

5| Subcription & Recycling

  • Create value through automated door-to-door filter delivery, discounts + perks, and education collateral
  • Many of us desire to recycle but don't have the ability to do so today
