Today’s Filter Journey Is Riddled With Hurdles

Confusion abounds. Here’s but a glimpse of what’s frustrating or esoteric about filter upkeep.

• When is the ideal time to replace our filters? Some of us think it’s monthly, others annually. No matter when we check our filters, they seem to look yucky, so we tend to just turn a blind eye.
• The impact of replacing filters is a guessing game. Some of us replace filters to ensure HVAC efficiency and longevity. Others of us replace for cleaner air and the good vibes associated with cleanliness. But, no matter our reason, we have no idea what the real impact is.
• Remembering filter size(s) is like trying to name all the state capitals. We’ve come up with our own workarounds though – writing them in a journal, taking a photo (and then desperately searching for it at the store), put it on our shopping list, etc.
• In-store, out of stock. Sometimes it feels like we’re looking for a needle in a haystack, as we go from store to store just to find our size.
